Drumstick Kurma Kuzhambu | முருங்கைக்காய் குருமா குழம்பு

Are you guys bored with the usual murungaikaai sambhar? Today, I tried this new recipe called 'kurma kuzhambu' with murungaikaai as 'thaan'. It's very easy to make. You can also use different vegetables and make veg kurma kuzhambu for rice. Let's see the recipe.
Preparation time : 20 minutes
Cooking time : 25 minutes
Serves - 2

Ingredients:

Drumstick - 2
Onion - 1
Tomato - 2
Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
Sambhar powder - 1.5 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Salt - as required
Water - as required
Oil - as required

For grinding:

Coconut - 1/4 cup
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Poppy seeds - 1/2 tsp

Method:

Finely chop 1 big onion and 2 tomatoes. Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds and urad dal. When they splutter, add onions and saute until they turn transparent.
Now add ginger garlic paste and saute until raw flavor goes off.
Then add tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.

Now add turmeric powder, sambhar powder, required water, salt and drumsticks (cut into 1.5 inch size pieces). Cook on low flame until drumstick is cooked completely.
In a mixie, add coconut, fennel seeds and poppy seeds, grind them to a fine paste.
Once drumstick is completely cooked, add the coconut paste and mix well. Allow the kuzhambu to boil only for 5 more minutes.
Garnish with coriander leaves. Murungaikaai kurma kuzhambu is ready to serve.
