Atta cookies in idli cooker | Eggless atta cookies without oven | Whole wheat cookies without egg

My first ever attempt in making cookies... and I'm jumping out of joy that the cookies came out really well. I don't have an oven; yet, I wanted to try cakes and cookies in cooker. Thus, I got this idea of making atta cookies in idli cooker (inspired from a YouTube channel thoughЁЯШЭ). I'm irritated with all the food channels making cakes and cookies with maida. So, I wanted to make this recipe with atta/ whole wheat deliberately. This is a very quick recipe and I was eagerly waiting to share this with you all! Awaiting your feedback...
Ingredients:

Whole wheat/ Atta - 1 cup
Powdered sugar - 1/2 cup
Ghee - 1/2 cup
Milk - 2 tbsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Baking powder - 1 tsp
Tutti frutti - 2 tsp (optional)
Cardamom powder - 2 pinches

Method:

Mix well all the ingredients in a bowl except milk. Add milk little by little and knead the dough. The dough should not be too hard nor too soft.
Knead the dough into a log shape and cover it with an aluminium foil. Keep it in refrigerator for 20 minutes.

In the mean time, take the idli cooker (idli paanai), fill the bottom of the cooker with salt (you can even use sand). Ensure the entire base is covered with salt. Cover the idli cooker with lid. Preheat the cooker for 10 minutes. Grease the idli moulds with oil.
After 20 minutes, take out the dough from refrigerator and cut it into pieces. Place the cookie pieces in the idli stand. Cover with lid and bake for 25-30 minutes in low flame.
Take out the cookies and let them cool. Atta cookies will become crispier and now enjoy the healthy, homemade, eggless atta cookies!
Note:
  • You can also place idli stand inside a pressure cooker and bake.
  • Instead of tutti frutti you can use choco chips as well.

  1. Sounds very interesting! I have an oven but plan on trying this as it looks so much simpler! Added to carrot dosai on my list of things to do when I get home next week ЁЯШГ Flaxseed powder is an excellent egg substitute, btw.
